Trey Canard had an incredibly difficult night at the 2015 Detroit Supercross. He was in contention to qualify for the main event from his heat race, but he crashed as the result of a mistake where he clipped a tough block. While attempting to make amends in the first 450cc semi qualifier, Canard was involved in a nightmare crash on the opening lap when Jake Weimer made a slight mistake in front of him through one of the first rhythm sections. The two riders ended up jumping different rhythms, Weimer came up short, and consequently Canard landed his 230 pound Honda directly on top of Weimer’s shoulder. The incident caused the race to be red flagged and put both of the riders out for the rest of the Supercross season. Canard’s face as he gets carted off by the medical unit serves as a grim reminder how physically and mentally exhausting this sport can be.
