Have you ever wondered what a first corner Motocross pile up looks like in HD slow motion? This footage from the start of the MX2 race at the 2012 Fermo MXGP perfectly exemplifies the absolute mayhem that is a first corner crash. It’s most often a domino effect where two riders tangle with one another, causing a slew of riders behind them to run out of room and inevitably meet the same demise. In this instance, MX2 World Champion Jeffrey Herlings bashed plastic with Tommy Searle. The two riders fell helplessly on the inside of the corner which formed a massive pile of metal, plastic, and rubber behind them. The aftermath of the incident almost resembles a scrap yard – a fitting analogy, because most of these riders can scrap their result for the day of racing.
