Its California predecessor was mediocre, at best. And Ferrari was fully aware it had work to do when it came to developing its replacement, ultimately called a California T. But don’t let that extra T there make you think this Ferrari is nothing more than the turbocharged version of its predecessor. It’s much more than that and then some. The Ferrari California T, with its twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 producing 552 horsepower and 557 lb-ft of torque, is more than a sports car but not quite a supercar. Call it the grand tourer. But is the California T the good Ferrari? Yes, and with the $8,000 Handling Speciale package it’s the even better Ferrari. Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman headed over to Italy for a test drive, for anyone who thinks the Ferrari California T is only subpar, prepare to be impressed because, damn, this car sounds fabulous.
