The Ford Mustang Mach 1 was first introduced by Ford Motors in the fall of 1968. It is a performance-oriented options packages, particularly for the 1969 model year. The Mach 1 moniker was retired in 1978 but it was revived in 2003 as part of a Ford Heritage program. The original recipe for the Mach 1 was quite modest: it began with a V8-powered ‘Sportsroof’ body and folks at Ford added a number of visual and performance enhancing stuff like the hood scoop, matte black hood treatment with hood pins, chrome pop-open gas cap, competition suspension, revised wheels shod in Goodyear Polyglas tires, deluxe interior, rear deck spoiler and rear window louvres. New renditions of the Mach 1 are in the works, but the impact of the original will certainly linger for generations to come.
That was really over the top. What do you think of this next video?
