A Nissan Leaf might not make much of a drag car, but the Tesla Model S actually has some power, and 100 percent of its torque is available right from 0 rpm. So, that gives it advantage off the line against, say a 700-horsepower G63 AMG, which makes much of its power thanks to the pair of turbochargers that have to spool up. Well, Turbo lag might not be what it once was, but a power is still nowhere near as instantaneous as it is in the Tesla Model S, to say nothing of the AMG’s extra weight.
